Greening offices is not a trivial task. Plants should not only enliven the space and help create a healthy atmosphere, but also be hardy, durable and undemanding to care. This is not the place for lovers of a humid environment and careful care. Of course, a flashy, prim appearance that matches the interior is also of great importance. Plants are no less an instrument for demonstrating status than finishing materials. But still, unpretentiousness always remains the first among the criteria for selecting plants.

Office Plant Talents
Offices, work areas and offices are included in the lists of special premises for landscaping, where you need to look for an unconventional approach. As a rule, they have powerful general lighting and the operation of fluorescent lamps and modern lighting installations create conditions for sufficient illumination even far from the windows. But this is where the “pluses” of offices for indoor plants actually end. Radiation, dust, an abundance of equipment, dry air are not suitable for all crops. Just as not all crops are suitable for offices due to their love for high humidity, excessive romanticism, sloppy appearance and other features. But most importantly – because of the requirements to provide careful care, which in the office there is no one to do.
The range of plants that feel great in work spaces is very limited given all these factors. First of all, plants are selected based on their endurance: no one specially takes care of plants in an office, they should be content with modest procedures and forgive small and large mistakes in watering, do without any measures to humidify the air and tolerate an unstable environment well.
No less important are purely aesthetic and functional possibilities. In offices, plants play the role of compensating decor. They are full-fledged anti-stressors that help not only to rest the eyes. They neutralize the impact on the emotional sphere and performance of furniture, boring colors, accumulation of equipment, documentation, etc. But at the same time, they should not turn the office into a greenhouse: plants are placed and used in such a way as to create a cozy, comfortable space for work, but not for living. This is a kind of “cure” for overload, stress, fatigue, melancholy and psychological discomfort. And at the same time, plants should fully correspond to the spirit and style of the room.
There is no place in offices for plants with “careless” greenery, seasonal accents, crops whose decorative period is limited, and plants that completely shed their leaves. Indoor plants for office landscaping should look perfect all year round. And it is better if they are strict and modern – with rich or variegated colors, ideal and simple lines, architectural effect, beautiful silhouettes. These should be expressive evergreen crops that play their role regardless of the season and any other factors.
When choosing plants, the main thing is to correctly determine their number. In an office interior, a lack of plants and their excess are equally inappropriate. On average, the number of required plants is calculated using a simple principle: one large plant or a similar group of smaller crops in “volume” is needed for a small room. For every 10 square meters of space, at least 1 and at most 3 indoor crops are needed.

There are other principles for selecting indoor plants for office premises.:
- Large-leaved plants are more suitable for spacious spaces that are not overloaded with furniture, while small-leaved plants are more appropriate where there is a lot of furniture;
- large plants are best placed in “front” areas, in reception areas and in the most important parts of offices (for example, closer to the boss’s office);
- the lower the ceiling, the more “tiered plants” are used;
- in offices, verticals, elongated lines, dense bushes and strict containers look more advantageous;
- It is better to use large indoor plants as space dividers, rather than in corners;
- you should not place more than 2 striking and flowering plants in the room; background and neutral plants should dominate;
- Small plants are separated and placed equally on work tables, windowsills, various shelves, and racks.
