Cacti have recently become the object of our attention. Their huge variety never ceases to amaze true connoisseurs. Flower shops are filled with a huge assortment of these funny plants. But not every buyer knows how to properly care for cacti. I would like to share with you my many years of experience.

My passion for cacti began back in school, when these plants were still something incredibly exotic and amazing. A friend brought me a small cactus, for breeding. It had no roots at all, and I didn’t know what to do with it. Mom advised me to cut out a stand from cardboard in the form of a rectangle with a small hole in the middle. We put this stand on a glass of water, and inserted a small cactus into the hole.
Literally a month later, roots began to appear, which allowed me to plant it in the ground soon. The cactus took root, but every day I dreamed of only one thing – for it to start blooming. Years passed, the little cactus grew, but did not spoil me with blooming, I was already completely desperate.
Over the years, my passion for cacti has become even more intense. At every opportunity, when I got to a flower shop, I bought a new type of these prickly favorites. Studying literature on caring for cacti, I learned a lot that was new and important for me. The soil for cacti should be of a special composition, loose, allowing the plant to breathe.

Repotting cacti is not easy because of their powerful spines. It is better to use thick gloves to avoid damage. The pot should be slightly larger than the previous one.
Cacti do not like to be turned on the windowsill. To do this, I took ordinary paper clips, stuck them into the soil with the plant and thus fixed the position of the cactus on the windowsill. I put the pots with the plants on the sunny side. And reduced their watering to a minimum, somewhere once a week. You will not believe it, my cacti bloom one after another, everyone is very surprised by this. But it is really so. Good luck to you and may your prickly pets spoil you with their growth and flowering.
